The Airbus A380 made it's maiden flight this past Wednesday in Toulouse, France. The A380 is the largest commercial airliner ever to take flight. Flight testing will continue for about a year with first revenue service occurring in the second half of 2006. For Canadians the best chance to see one here or fly on one from Canada will be in Montreal as Air France is slated to use their A380's on the Montreal-Paris CDG route.

Air Canada has selected Boeing 777's and Boeing 787's for its widebody renewal and modernization Firm orders will placed for 18 Boeing 777's and 14 787's with options on an additional 18 and 46 of each respectively. The first three 777's will start service in 2006 while the 787's won't be due until 2010.

WestJet has announced that on June 28 it will start daily Charlottetown to Toronto service with the same plane continuing on to Vancouver. In related news, Air Canada is threatening to drop extra service the Charlottetown due to WestJet receiving revenue guarantees for this service from the PEI government..
