You are probably familiar with a feature on our site entitled 'American Express Cobalt Card Confirmed Multiplier Locations' and we have also created the same thing here for the American Express Business Edge Card. If you aren't familiar with that page, it is a list of merchants that have been confirmed by our users as locations to where and how you can earn points on the card.
We have to thank our reader Reed S. for the idea as he asked if there was a similar chart for the American Express Business Edge card and since there wasn't, we decided to make it! And more recenlty a thank you to Jason for requesting that we update the Business Edge multipliers page to the same style as the Cobalt page with searchable and sortable data.
The American Express Business Edge Card differs from the Cobalt Card in some the multipliers it has. Specifically it earns 3x times the points for Card purchases on eligible business essentials including office supplies & electronics, rides & gas, eats & drinks (excluding groceries) then 1x points on all other spending.
Utilize our Cobalt Multipliers list for Eats & Drinks
Rather than duplicate all the excellent data found on the Cobalt lists, we have decided to minimize the data on the Business Edge confirmed multipliers list to non-eats and drinks multipliers. If you want to find restaurants/bars/coffee shops etc. where you can earn 3x points at with the Business Edge card please visit the American Express Cobalt Card Confirmed Multiplier Locations page to conduct your search. Any of the locations listed as 5x points on that list (outside of grocery and convenience stores) will earn 3x points with the Business Edge card. As well any gas, transit and rides from the Cobalt list that are not listed below and are 2x points on the Cobalt Card should earn 3x points with the Business Edge card.
Searchable and sortable data
In April 2024 this feature received a major update as we moved away from a simple list format to searchable and sortable tables which makes it much easier to find locations! As well the listings are no longer separated by points earning but rather are now split into three sections: Canada, the United States and the rest of the World. Please note that merchants may change at any time so while a merchant may be listed in one category when you read this page it is entirely possible that they switch categories before we are able to update it.

Quick tips for using the tables!
- !! Mobile Users !!: If you are viewing this page on mobile we recommend clicking the toggle icon so that the data is shown in card view
- You can search any data you like, the merchant name (ie Staples), city (ie Vancouver) and so forth!
- If you are searching by city or town name, the larger merchants who are Canada wide or province wide will not show up in the results. For larger merchants it is better to search by their name rather than location
- If your desired result doesn't display, it doesn't necessarily mean the merchant does not accept Amex. It could very well be that no one from the Rewards Canada community has shopped there and/or contributed it for us to add here. That means you can be the first do so!
- Click on the icon if you would like to view it as a full screen chart (a good option to view more rows at once)
- If you have sorted your search data and want to return to the initial results simply click on the refresh icon
- To reset the entire table simply clear the search box of any text

Amex Shop Small Website
Another option to find merchants is to check American Express Canada's Shop Small website - it lists all their independent merchants where you can use your American Express cards at. It doesn't tell you what category they fall under but in most cases the office supply stores, restaurants, and bars etc. should fall into the 3x points category.
